On the day

A real inspection, done properly

Your certified inspector checks every part of the pool barrier on site: the gate, latches, gaps, heights and the non-climbable zone. Then they talk you through the result, and if it passes your Form 23 is issued on the spot.

The inspection

What we check

A Queensland pool safety inspection follows the pool barrier standard. Here's what an inspector goes through.

Barrier height

The fence is at least 1200 mm high all the way around, with no low points.

Gaps & spacing

No gaps a small child could get through, including under the fence and between verticals.

Gate & latch

The gate self-closes and self-latches from any position, with the latch out of a child's reach.

Non-climbable zone

Nothing climbable, like pots, taps, trees or furniture, within the 900 mm zone outside the fence.

Doors & windows

Any windows or doors opening to the pool area meet the barrier requirements.

CPR sign

A current, compliant CPR sign is displayed near the pool.

Something not quite right? We explain exactly what needs attention, and minor items are often fixed on the day so you still walk away certified.

Fixes on the spot

Minor issues? Often sorted on the day

A gate that won't self-latch or a loose hinge doesn't have to mean a failed inspection. Our inspectors carry the tools to fix common problems there and then, so most pools still walk away certified the same day.

Pool certificate questions, answered

  • When do I need a Form 23? In Queensland a pool safety certificate is required when you sell or lease a property with a pool, and it's smart to keep a current one anyway.
  • How much does it cost? A flat $195, including the QBCC Form 23. No callout fees.
  • How long does it take? The inspection takes around 20 minutes, and we issue the certificate on the spot if your pool passes.
  • What if my pool doesn't pass? You get a clear written list of what needs attention, and we often do small repairs on the spot during the inspection. If a follow-up visit is needed, the re-inspection is $50.
  • What does the 100% compliance guarantee mean? If we certify your pool, your Form 23 is valid and recognised. If your pool doesn't pass, you get a clear written list of what to fix, and we re-check it once it's sorted.
